Itinerary - 2019 Argentina Total Solar Eclipse Tour

2 July 2019 Total Solar Eclipse Information

The Eclipse 2019

You will witness the total solar eclipse of 2 July 2019 from a carefully selected location in the vicinity of Bella Vista, near San Juan (where you will stay prior to the eclipse) along the centre path where we should enjoy 2 mins 30 secs of totality. Bella Vista lies on an open plain where satellite imagery signals the lowest average cloud cover along the path of the eclipse.

25 June: Arrive Buenos Aires (Argentina)

Upon arrival, you will be met at in Ezeiza Airport by our Guide and private coach and will be transferred to your hotel. (N.B. Airport transfer applies to specific flight arrival times at Ezeiza Airport). You will stay 3 nights at the comfortable Pestana Hotel in BuenosSAires on a bed & breakfast basis.

26 June: Buenos Aires City Tour

We begin our Buenos Aires city tour through this unique city, full of passion, history, culture and magic. We will start our tour through one of the main avenues: the 9th of July Avenue, where we'll see the Teatro Colon and the Obelisk. Afterwards we will visit the Plaza de Mayo - the historical, political epicentre of the city and the location of the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government House and the Cabildo. The city tour continues south through the old neighbourhood of San Telmo, passing through Parque Lezama.

We'll continue even further south to reach the neighbourhood of La Boca, where we have our second stop. Famous for the stadium of Boca Juniors, one of the greatest exponents of the Argentinian passion: Football; and also important for Caminito, one of the biggest attractions, full of colour, magic and history. After a break we move to Puerto Madero, which is one of the newest, most exclusive and most modern neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires with its main areas of Retiro and Plaza San Martin. We then head to Palermo, which is Buenos Aires main green area. The last neighbourhood we'll visit is the exclusive and sophisticated neighbourhood of La Recoleta before returning to our hotel.

27 June: Fiesta Gaucha Santa Susana

We head out of town to Estancia Santa Susana with our Guides where we can enjoy an amazing landscape as we visit the Argentina´s pampas. We will be greeted with a welcome reception where they serve a typical traditional "meat pies", Argentinian wine and soft drinks. Our Guides will take you to meet some of the Santa Susana´s attractions such as the traditional museum and its beautiful church. Later, you can enjoy a horse carriage ride to explore the land of the ranch. After the tour of the ranch, Santa Susana offers a delicious barbecue.

During lunch, you will have the chance to tango and where everyone is invited to dance. We’ll also watch a "boleadoras" show where traditional weapons are thrown by gauchos. After lunch, we will start the real entertainment where gauchos show off their amazing abilities. At the end of this traditional experience, we will be served a typical Argentina drink "mate" (yerba mate soaked in hot water) and pastries.

28 June: Buenos Aires to Medoza

After breakfast, check out our your hotel and transfer Aeropraque Airport from where we fly to Mendoza (domestic flight not included). On Arrival in Mendoza, you will be met and transferred to the will check in at the NH Cordillera Hotel Mendoza for 2 nights.

29 June: Full day Winery Tour

Today we head south of Mendoza to the Uco Valley which is the home of some of Argentina’s finest vineyards, which are located between 900 and 1200 meters above sea level. Known especially for Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Semillón, and Torrontés production, the Valle de Uco draws winemakers from all over the world and we’ll enjoy a winery tour here. This striking natural setting is located below a stretch of the Andes that includes the 6,800 meter Mount Tupungato.

30 June: Mendoza to San Juan

This morning we depart Mendoza and head by coach to the city of San Juan, west of the San Juan River. You will stay the next 4 nights at Civico ART Hotel on a bed & breakfast basis.

1 July: San Juan city tour

Today we visit some museums of historical, paleontological, and archeological interest. We also visit visit the scenic Quebrada El Zonda and another winery and an olive farm.

2 July: ECLIPSE DAY

Today we set off early to view the Total Solar Eclipse. We then return to your hotel for a round-up of today’s events.

3 July: Barreal and Leoncito Tour

We head off on a mountainous tour today during which we can enjoy panoramic views en route including from Villicúm, the town of Talacasto and the Quebrada of the Burras. We head to Calingasta and from there we we transfer to the Pampa the Leoncito. We will have lunch in Barreal and then visit the facilities of the astronomical complex. On the way back to San Juan we will have a view of Cerro Alkazar.

4 July: San Juan to Buenos Aires

After breakfast, check out our your hotel and transfer to the Airport from where we fly back to Buenos Aries (domestic flight not included). On arrival, you will be met and transferred back to the Pestana Hotel Buenos Aires for your final night

5 July: Depart

 Transfer to the Airport and depart home.

5 July: Transfer to Iguazu

 After breakfast, check out our your hotel and transfer to the Airport from where you fly to Iguazu (flight not included). On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Visitors Center, where you board panoramic buses and begin a tour of the park. From the first balcony you’ll be able to take in a view of the Argentinean Falls. Then after 950 meters with stunning views over the Iguazu river you'll get to the Falls on the Brazilian side. The walkway entering the river next to the Floriano Fall gives you a gorgeous panoramic view of the lower Iguazu river and the Devil’s Gorge Canyon. The Iguazu Falls on the Brazil side is the place for the best views of the Falls. later check in to the Grand Crucero Iguazu Hotel for 2 nights on a bed & breakfast basis.

6 July: Iguaza Falls

 Today’s excursion will allow you to discover the Garganta del Diablo, one the most beautiful sightseeing spots in the region.Later enjoy a fast boat ride in the waters of the Rio Iguazu down to the Falls where you can observe them at hand.

7 July: Iguaza to Bueno Aries

 After breakfast, check out our your hotel and transfer to the Airport from where we fly back to Buenos Aries (domestic flight not included). On arrival, you will be met and transferred back to the Pestana Hotel Buenos Aires for your final night

8 July: Depart

 Transfer to the Airport and depart home.
